It made my day, week whatever we want to call it.
I was parched and now with a little drizzle I am happy.
Maybe it will pour later.
Ha! I am dreaming!

Well, we'd kill for a letter but I refuse to guilt him into one! So, we keep writing and know it will come eventually. Glad you got one and I'm guessing you read it a few times.

No letter, HOWEVER, there is a sighting of Benjo6 (my son)! On webguy notes for July 5th in the picture group just above the film clips, second picture from the right (without scrolling), the last kid at the table with five Basics, closest to the window (looking straight but eyes down on the plate, as instructued!). What a relief -- he looks good though not particularly happy. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. (I'm not expecting everyone to look this up; I'm recording it for Texas Falcon's family and our friends/family, who have started looking at this forum for info!). Here's the link to the page:

A picture is worth a thousand word.....................

AFADAD,

I agree with you. I will give anything to see a glimpse of my girl.

But she sounded up beat in the letter in spite of her complaining and her weariness. Her strength showed in her words and she said she was able to meditate on Sunday in spite of being bone weary tired.

She has not gotten any of our letters by the time she posted her letters. She is longing for it. I hope our letters are not held from the Basics. One parent wrote earlier, some times it could happen.

Web guy is a blessing! We were thrilled to see a video of our son on Jul 3rd, very informal, where they said their name, where they were from and something about themself. They seemed very relaxed and to be having fun. Our son is in Flight D.

PRDMOM -- we got TWO letter today! Similar story: very tired but strength in the words. Worship is a GREAT relief. As our son put it, he was able to rest (not just be at ease), to worship and to SING. Looks like Sunday is a highlight. Who knew? He began the letter "Basic Cadet B______, reports as ordered!" We cracked up! Here's a little more: "I am always at attention and am no longer a civilian. But not to worry -- I have retained my individualism. There is simply a time and a place for it -- a very scarce time at that!" A comforting message to us. Well, keep searching for your daughter's picture. There are new ones every day it seems.

This was a great relief. Since Benjo6 was a frequent poster on CC, I don't think he would mind my quoting just a little of the less personal part of the letter.

While it's a tough call, I think basics actually appreciate mail more than their parents! Even if your basic doesn't write immediately, just keep writing to them. Some write more frequently than others, but even when they can't find time to write, they can always squeeze in a little time to READ letters. ;)

I just sent 3 letters off today, with notes saying no response was necessary - one to the basic cadet who inherited my old p.o. box and two to posters from here whose addresses I happened to stumble across (HornetGuy and Texas_Falcon).

Un -- you are truly the best. That you took some time to write is great! We inprocessed with Texas Falcon and family. What a great group they are! I have some pics of TF and Benjo6 at inprocessing. Now I just need to figure out how to post them on here....

AFADad

Thanks for sharing your letter. still waiting for mine. But I feel fortunate to have seen 3 pictures and just saw SQ g on video last night July 6th going into Arnold hall My son was so intense looking (as always) it looks like he was ready to knock somebodys head off.

FYI......There are tons of sites to post pictures including Yahoo I think their picture site is called Flickr. You can post link when you have them up to your page.
