Did you guys order bedding from RHL?

On the College Life forum, people are saying the sheets and stuff from rhl.org are of poor quality. I was wondering if most Brown students get them from other places, like Linens N Things or somewhere?

We didn't order bedding from anywhere-- we bought it from B B & B, and other places. Just get a twin x-long fitted sheet and you can use regular flat sheets and blankets. Unless you are very tall. The bedding and towels from the company you mention are not all cotton, are scratchy, and thin, in my opinion. So you would do better to pick stuff you like. Since you are in California, you can pick out stuff at Bed Bath & Beyond (I assume you have this store out there) and then pick it up in Providence when you get there. Or you can send it to yourself once you get a mail box. The Brown post office will hold big packages for you.

Yeah, my sheets from there are pretty bad. Bed Bath and Beyond and Linens and Things are good. Everyone has sheets that fit - don't let them fool you.

OK, thanks. Yes, we do have B B & B. I'll look into that :)

yeah, the alternate store pickup thing for BBB i've heard is pretty baller. Never done it myself since I'm on the east coast though.

BB&B is the way to go. You go to the store near you and they give you a scanner-you choose all the items you want. Then when you get to Providence, just give them your name and they bring out your whole order in a box-you pay for it in Providence and they even accept multiple coupons. This way you don't have to ship it, pack it or cram it in your car with your other items. The store wasn't too crowded either-didn't have to wait very long to get it all.

OK, definitely doing that! So could I go to BB&B now and pick out stuff and tell them I didn't want to pick it up until August, in Providence?

Yes definitely do it now as they do have a cut off date to assure that you will get your stuff in Providence. Just tell them you want to do the college scanner thing. It's fun-you walk around the store and scan all the items you want (like they do for bridal registries) and then you just pick it up in Providence. It's so much easier that way. You can wait until you get to Providence-I have seen many people do that too-but you take a chance that they might run out of something you like and you might not get your first choice in bedding, towels etc.
