I am sure many in coming freshman college students would have won scholarships money towards 2007-2008 freshman year from Robert Byrd Scholarship, National Merit Finalist $2500 and Elks Foundation. My daughter has won all three. I was wondering if any of these students have received payment payable to college. We are still waiting for actual money to come to her student receivable account. Are families in similar situation that they are waiting before actual payment is released to college by these programs? The daughter is an incoming freshman at Harvard.

My daughter's Byrd Scholarship (Texas) is paid directly to the college twice a year. I did have to call about it, though, due to some missing paperwork between the college and the state.

My son had trouble receiving Byrd Scholarship money his first year(last year). This trouble was between my son's school and the state. We made at least 3 calls to his school and the Byrd money finally showed up on his account in spring! He never received the amount he should have received in the fall. We could have made another call about it, but we just let it go. National Merit money also took a couple of weeks before it showed up on his account last year, but it showed up right away this year.

Last fall, D's NMF $2,500 was credited to her school account the first day of classes.
