Did your schedule get messed up? If so, what happened?

My school just messed up like at least half the junior years schedules. I got it today and it said physics when I already took physics and signed up for chemistry. And then they gave me stupid studio art when I asked for Peer Tutoring. Studio art is probably the dumbest, most useless class to take. I put that down for my alternatives because everyone in this school puts down shi* for alternatives, and my hr teacher's like, "if you picked that as a alternative, that's what you get". F that, i'm getting that damned class changed. Peer tutoring should have told us that there was a limited space, like they went around to each class advertising sign ups. And they didn't even say that you'd most likely not get the class because me and my 2 friends didn't get it and now we're stuck with our alternatives. I wanted to put art major 3 for my alternative but my teacher was like I can't do that. Then what can I do?! Sorry, just ranting.
Lol, at least i'm not my friend. She went to the counselor on the last day of school to sign up for ap bio and over the summer, she did ALL the bio work, and when she came back to school, the counselors like "your ap bio's conflicting with your american studies, you cant take it". Haha, her face.

But i'm curious, who else got their schedule messed up.

My school is really small so many classes are only offered once or twice which leads to many students getting classes they didn’t want. I personally was placed in anthropology when I want anatomy and physiology. I am not thrilled, but there is no alternative and I got all of my APs and the one elective I truly wanted…

I spent a good third of my summer taking FLVS Algebra II Honors and FLVS English II Honors (I also had a life during the summer mind you) to prepare and free up an elective spot to take AP Stats with a previous Geometry teacher who I really enjoyed. What my counslers forgot to inform me was that Band was only offered 6th period, the only period that AP Stats was also offered. So I was forced to drop AP Stats and I finally found a way to work a different AP class, AP English Language and Comp into my schedule.

My schedule was all jacked up. The first time around, I had AP Anatomy instead of AP Physics B and Spanish was nowhere to be found but instead I was placed in Architecture (which you have to travel to the other high school for and take that and two other classes there- hell no). Then, I got that changed and I was good for Spanish and Physics, but instead of Academic Decathlon I was in Art 1, which I didn’t want because I can’t draw and I’m taking my fine art next year. Then I got that fixed but Spanish was missing again and I had sixth period (we have seven) free. Apparently, one of the counselors was dumb enough to put the only Decathlon class and the only honors Spanish 3 class in the same period. So now I’m on my second week of school and I’m in two classes with more people than desks (in one I sit at the teacher’s desk and in the other every day the four last people to arrive sit on the floor) and in regular Spanish 3 (which sucks).

Got exactly what I wanted.

I am only required to have 1/2 year of US Government to graduate, but need a full credit for many of my colleges, so I signed up for both Constitutional Law & AP Government (1 semester each). But one of the electives I signed up for (Accounting - my useless class) conflicts with AP Government. They put me in accounting instead of AP Gov. I asked to have it changed since AP Gov is required for college (and a class I actually want to take!!!), but apparently they don’t need to accomodate my request because “the state schools don’t require it” which apparently means I’m making up information about colleges, since “every” college has that same requirement. My counselors don’t understand the college application process for OOS schools at ALL.

AP Gov isn’t until the 2nd semester so hopefully the counselor will see reason by then and let me drop Accounting for AP Gov. I will probably have to have my mom call or talk to the principal or something though, I don’t see the counselor changing her mind.

Apparently it’s near impossible to change my schedule since I don’t have a missing core class like math, English, science, or history.

Anthropology doesn’t doesn’t sound so bad. Hah, AmberDA, I’d be ****ed if I had to change my schedule that many times. baileyj57, you need to get your 'rents up in there. One counselor won’t let a student drop an AP class because she says that that’s what she picked. And the student was away the whole summer so she couldn’t do any of the work. But i’m sure if she got her parents there, and you kept pestering them then they might fix it. And yeah, some school’s are just really dumb and won’t let you change it if you don’t have a missing core class. That’s what mine is like.

My school made my Chinese class and Orchestra conflict…I had to drop orchestra. Oh well, I’ll be taking AP Stat next year so it doesn’t really matter.

Okay, so after 2 days, I finally got my physics changed to honors chem. That wasn’t until I had to personally go down and ask. But I still have stupid studio arts and he’s not changing it. That class is dead quiet and we spent 2 days drawing 1 dumb picture. I already have another art this semester(one that i wanted) and only 2 main honors courses, so this whole semester is a f-ing rip off, since my counselor put my 4 main honors courses next semester+me self-studying AP Enviro, and studying for SAT subject tests and the SAT’s. Like, who does that?! Distribute it so it’s 3 one semester, and 3 the other. This semester, I pretty much have nothing and next semester i’m going to be soo stressed out! Sorry, rant again. Who knows what i’ll do.

When I got my schedule my gym class was missing which is required for graduation. As a junior I was able to take physics or Human Anatomy. I chose physics because I thought I could take Anatomy next year. Come to find out I cant. So I have to drop physics to take anatomy which is college level while physics is only regents level. Dropping physics would then enable me to take health this semester and college Psychology next semester :). It would also allow me to change my pre calculus class from 1st block which as about 20 students to 4th block which has 10 students. I can’t wait to change my schedule. I also want to take anatomy since I love life science and the teacher is great where as to me physics is super boring and as a hard class boring can’t do and the teacher plays favorites and can be a jerk at times.

I’m really surprised my schedule worked. A lot of my classes have only one period. I think it only works the way it is.

I had to take parenting freshman year and now sports marketing. They’re not all that bad but I didn’t sign up for them and I don’t like having random classes like that on my transcript. I just hope it doesn’t make me look lazy or anything when it’s time to apply to colleges.
