didn't do an interview for a school and couldn't get an interview for a school

so i was one day late to register for an interview with tufts university

and

i could not get an interview with vanderbilt university despite registering for one (i did contact them asking about it)

does this mean i should expect a 99% that i will be rejected.

btw i DID have an interview with emory and u chicago… they lasted 2 hours and the other one lasted 30 minutes respectively…

i know people say that interviews don’t hurt you and can only help but considering how i could not get one for vandy and was a day short for tufts will i be rejected more than likely

thanks

Wrong… interviews can hurt you. It will likely make no difference that you did not have them for some schools.

@intparent thanks. So although my friend had an interview with vanderbilt university and i could not, that does not necessarily mean that he already got accepted and i got rejected right ?

is there a possible reasoning as to WHY i did not get an interview ? is it because i was not good enough ?

No telling… don’t worry about it.

Don’t worry about interviews. As @intparent points out, they very rarely help an applicant considerably. I’d like to dispel the fiction that interviewees think their interviews always go great. Most evaluation reports will be average. I’d like to dispel the fiction that interviewees think their interviews always go great. Most evaluation reports will be average. One of my kids was a great interviewer. She interviewed everywhere she could, and it probably helped at some schools. One of my kids was NOT a strong interviewer. She purposely did not interview anywhere. She got in everyplace she applied, including some top schools. Don’t worry about it.

Relax. Per the Vanderbilt Common Data set, interviews are “considered”, not required. As you can see grades and scores are much more important:

My D was advised by her counselor to contact Tufts, as she still hasn’t been contacted about an interview. She did request one. She doesn’t want to contact them because she thinks if they had an alum available, he/she would have been in contact with her. I have heard that Tufts doesn’t always get everyone interviewed.
