Didn't get accepted to Community college? What do I do now?!

So I applied to Kingsborough Community College and New York City College of Technology for the Nursing program. I applied about a week late of the deadline for the Spring 2016 semester and just got an e-Mail saying “After careful review of your Freshman Admission Application and supporting documents, we are unable to offer you admission to the college choice(s) listed below for the Spring 2016 semester. Kingsborough Community College and NYC College Of Technology.” WHAT DO I DO? Please help! I really want to go to KCC because it’s really close and I have not taken the SAT’s when I was in high school. Please help!

with all due respect, I’m not sure what you expected. from what I understand, nursing programs in community colleges are very competitive, because they’re so cheap. no doubt you would have had a better chance had you applied before the deadline (I’m also not sure why you mentioned the sat’s, unless they were required for the program, in which case they would have had further reason to reject you).

there’s no point in dwelling about that now though. is there a way you can appeal for readmission to either (or both) schools?

So what do I do now? I haven’t taken the SAT which means all 4 year schools are out of the picture. Kingsborough is where I really wanted to go. Is there anything I can do? I really need to be in college by February.

Talk to their admissions counselor. Ask what you could do to make yourself a more attractive candidate (and do those things, if possible ); find out if and when you can reapply, or if they’ll reconsider this application. You won’t know until you ask. At the same time, reach out to other CCs nearby and speak with admissions counselors; apply to those schools.Another source of information and advice could be your state’s board if nursing; they could point you in the right direction. In the meantime, try to get a job in the nursing/ health field; that could help your chances and at a minimum, would give you some insight into your chosen field. Good luck!

I’m a student at kingsborough and also applied late but the difference is that I went for something else. I know nursing is competitive and and have limited seats so they take the most qualified applicants first. If you would like to do nursing you can check other community colleges like bmcc, queensborough, or Lehman. Check online to see which cuny community colleges offer nursing and apply.

I know I am quite late to this thread but why not apply and don’t do a intended major then? I am going for culinary and you can’t even apply for it when you enter. You need to talk to the head and then change your major. I am currently am a tourism and hospitality major and doing all the other basic requirements for the degree first. Took Spanish 100, English 12, econ 1200 and took one class for my intended major which also is required in my current major labor relations ( tah 5000). Next semester I’m taking bio 1100 ( I believe it’s that), English 24, math 4 or 9 and some history class for the general requirements. After my first year I pretty much have all my general requirements finished except for the writing intensive class and my major related classes.

Also how is registration for spring closed now? I registered for fall which is my first back in early August. Or is it for the nursing program specifically?
