Didn't send in an extra written statement to Gallatin-- UH OH

On the NYU website under special requirements it says this:

"While not required for admission, we welcome from Gallatin applicants a written statement discussing how Gallatin's unique educational approach will help you achieve your academic and professional goals."

I know it says it's not required but am I screwed since I didn't send in an extra written statement?? In my last short answer I talked about how I want to do music, dance, business, liberal arts, and briefly said why, but I didn't even know that there was this option to send in an extra essayish kinda thing. Am I ok?

i hate to say it, but for Gallatin, it's often the essays that make or break you.

you might be out of luck here, or at least at a distinct disadvantage.

I applied to Gallatin ED, didn't send in an extra written statement (I only found out about it at like the beginning of December and totally freaked out), and still got accepted. So you should be fine. Good luck!

haha k good. yeah i know gallatin puts a lot of emphasis on the essays. and thus i put a lot of work into my essay and short answers. i explained why i wanted to go to gallatin and what i was interested in studying-- in the short answer. i just didn't know if it was bad to not submit the extra written statement

and thanks dancerad64. out of interest, what are you going to study at gallatin? i am interested in music/dance/musical theater and business/liberal arts

I'm interested in studying dance and musical theatre too, along with dramatic literature, journalism and probably some history and english. My concentration will probably be some sort of "musical theatre studies" thing, because I want to be a writer/critic about musical theatre. And no problem :).
