A few months ago, I began to really think about college choices. I knew that I have to take the SAT, but my counselor never once informed me that I should take the ACT. I have missed the deadline by MONTHS, and now I am scared I won't be able to get into a university. Yes, it is my fault as well that I never took the time to look t what I should do for college, and a accept responsibility for that, but now I need help. What should I do? Would it be too late to take it next year as a senior?

**By the way, sorry if this question has been posted before :(

It seems you are in junior year. It is not too late to take ACT (or SAT) even in the Fall or Winter of senior year. It may be late for some early action application though. Many students would focus on either SAT or ACT as most school would consider any one of them. Nevertheless, some students may perform better with one or the other and trying both would give you a better opportunity. You should have taken at least one of these test by now (or by the end of this semester). There is still time to register if you haven’t taken either one.

The next ACT date is June 8 2013 and the deadline to register is May 3, so you can take it then. You can take it again in the fall.

Thanks! I didn’t know if taking it Senior year would mess up my chances. I will take the SAT in both May and June and hopefully find an early date for the ACT

Some schools said the early action (or early decision) does not increase your chance but accelerate the process, while some article said it does help. Anyway, it would likely only benefit the applicants with higher chances.
