Difference between Mexican American and Hispanic/Latino

<p>On the PSAT, and I assume the SAT, too, it asks if I am a Mexican American or Hispanic/Latino. What am i supposed to put? I was born in the United States, but my mom is from Mexico and my dad from El Salvador. Also, do am i still eligible to be get National Hispanic Recognition on PSAT.</p>

<p>These classifications don't really mean much except for coming out with statistics. I would put down Hispanic/Latino because of my father but either way you are Hispanic (to be considered Hispanic you only need one of your grandparents to be Hispanic).</p>

<p>thread. You can consider "Mexican" a subcategory of Hispanic and you can indicate that as your category because you have a parent from Mexico.</p>
