What special distinctions/differences do H, Y, P look for in their admissions? For example, does H value grades more than EC's as compared to P, or vice versa, etc? Which ones place most weight on grades or special talents, etc?

I'm not terribly familiar with Harvard or Yale's criteria, but I do know a fair amount about Princeton. Princeton used to look for well-balanced, more WASP-ish applicants, but that has changed dramatically. A new administration took power in 2001 and has since began to look for more egg-head, scholastic students. In addition to that, diversity and the arts have taken on huge importance. If you have any sort of significant experience with diversity or in the arts, make sure to emphasize it on your application. Also, try to complement the University on the way it has changed from a hub of "elitism" and "snobbery" to a world-class, diverse, intellectual college.
