Different districts=different chances of getting in?

Hello,

I’ve been searching the whole internet for an answer to my question. I’ve read on some website that WP tries to pick at least a few cadets from each districts. So does that mean if you live in a district where there aren’t that many WP applicants, there’s a higher chance of you getting in? And if so, is there any way for me to see if I live in a district where it’s competitive or lax?

Thank you

Yes…some Congressional Districts are more competitive than others. Generally speaking those are located near military bases and areas with larger numbers of military personnel (including retired). Northern Va is known to be very competitive…while N. Dakota…usually not as much. Some Congressional Districts are more competitive for one branch over another…such as Annapolis and Colorado Springs.
Good Luck!

Do you know, by any chance, if SoCal is known to be competitive?

California overall has a reputation for being very competitive because there are only 2 Senators for a very large population…unlike N/S Dakota where there is also 2 Senators for a MUCH smaller number of people…and by extension…fewer applicants.
So in all likelihood any chance of any Appointment will come from your Congressional District…and the competitiveness of those districts vary. Your best bet for an accurate answer to your question is to call your Congresspersons office and ask whoever handles SA Appointments how many applicants they usually receive for X SA. I would think most will at least “ballpark” a number for you.
I’m not sure why it actually matters. If you don’t apply your chances are zero. Give it your best shot and hope for the best. Make sure that you have some alternate plans (acceptances) for civilian colleges and ROTC…just in case. If you don’t get in this year you can reapply next year.
Good Luck!
