I am a freshman at UNC-CH and began my application in June. The officer in charge of my file put me in for a waiver because of childhood asthma. I am pretty sure that I will get it because I havent had asthma since I was 12, I just got an inhaler when I was 14 because we were going backpacking in Canada. Anyways, I have recieved four nominations: 2 from my senator, 1 from my representative, and one from ROTC. I am 4th on the list for my district (which I realize is not very good) but when my friend who is at West Point stopped by and my ROTC cadre have called he has told them that while it looks bad that I am 4th in the district it is really good that I have four nominations. I am really really confused how that is good. It just seems to me like now I am just not going to get any of the four nominations since I couldnt even get the district one which should be the easiest. So my question is does anyone know how this is a good thing?????

Getting four nominations improves your odds somewhat since you have a chance at 3 different spots in your state. Some of the other candidates receiving senatorial nominations in your state may also have district nominations and, therefore, not need or use the senatorial nomination. Your chances of getting the senatorial nomination may actually be better than the 4th rank you have with your district. However, the overriding factor will likely be how your whole candidate score compares to other candidates.

Good luck.
