Hey guys, Lets share our experiences of getting through the admission process (read:alive) of any Indian college. It can be anything from standing in long queues, begging your siblings to get the forms, having to visit the college again & again due to their system errors & so on...

Ummm, you might want to post in the Indian forum.

@Hardik: Are you going to Penn by any chance?

^Haha, Harvard, I was wondering the same thing!
And, ummm, I apparenty mis-saw the forum name.
Also, I didn’t apply to Indian colleges as I had my visa early enough. The process seems hectic- but is a lot simpler than the US process!

I think he’s talking about applying to Indian colleges.

He’s on the wrong website. Haha.

@harvard, sush- I doubt its the one you met at USIEF This one is talking about Indian colleges, right?

Hey, how do you know about the Hardik we met at USIEF? The Penn Connection???

He told me how he knew Sush, so I figured it was the same with you. Are you on my FB btw?
P.S. I’m staying at his place when I’m coming to Delhi for my Visa Interview :P

No, we are not connected through FB. Could you send me your FB so that we could indeed become friends? It is always good to know fellow Indians at fellow Ivies!

P.S. Looks like the Penn Connection is very deep between the two of you!

Sent you a message
And we don’t really know each other thaaaat well. We haven’t even met before But Penn Connections tend to be pretty strong :D

^Sent you a request!

Okay. The difficulties:

Getting your ECs in order (they aren’t needed for Indian admissions).
Getting your effing marks in order (they aren’t needed for Indian admissions either).
Getting the letters of recommendations and counselor forms and whatnots.
Finding colleges you can afford. =(
Getting the financial documents ready.
GETTING THE VISA. X_X

And like a billion more difficulties, like convincing your parents that they need to spend 10x what they’d spend in India, to send you to the US.

Good luck.

@blue- He was asking about INDIAN colleges <<
Also, not everybody needs to spend more for studying in the US instead of India. >>

^Gary, you are one of the privileged few!

A few from the need aware, and EVERYBODY who’s applying to the need-blind schools can, so all I wanted to point out was that you must not refrain from applying only because of your financial condition.

Yes, I know that. But most people who go to the US aren’t in a need-aware or need-blind college. Like me. =(

Yes blue, its a fair warning But lets not talk in absolutes here.
