Difficulty of Intro Courses?

Hi, so I’m going to go to Rice next year as a chemical engineering student. I’m a bit worried about the intro courses because I’ve heard that they are extremely difficult. I plan on taking Mechanics/E&M with Lab, Gen Chem I/II with lab, Calculus I/II, and a humanities course/Freshman Writing Intensive. Could someone please describe their experiences with these courses? How time consuming would such a schedule be? I would like to participate in research/extracurricular activities, so would I have time for those things with this schedule? I have taken AP Calculus BC and AP Chemistry. I did not take AP Physics C (sadly) but I did take AP Physics 1 my junior year so I have some background in physics. Thank you very much!

I asked a friend who had a very similar schedule her freshman year (she’s a BioE major), and she said you should be fine. That’s a pretty common intro curriculum. I mean, it’ll be hard, but that’s pretty normal  Did you get AP scores that might get you out of any of those classes? Also you should know that all the questions you could possibly think of will be answered many times over once you get here. You design your schedule during O-Week (orientation week) and you’ll have peer academic advisors there to talk you through it
