I am visiting UCSD for the Summer and I'm taking Math 20c. I wanted to know how difficult this is going to be? It's only 5 weeks so it should be over soon but I am from UMichigan and we die in math there.

its not a hard class at all. though it somewhat depends on who the teacher is.

if you know your calculus fairly well, 20c will be a breeze. the content is not difficult to understand

how is the math 20 series in general and what should I expect if I’m an entering freshmen and I took AB Calc junior year and don’t remember a single thing?

i didnt take 20 a and b at ucsd cuz i got a 5 on calc bc, but i’ve taken 20 c, d, and f so far and they haven’t been too difficult.

though if you don’t remember a single thing from calc ab, and didn’t take bc senior year, it might be a tad difficult, but nothing you can’t handle if you put in a bit of time

Oh great:) Because at UM we cry bloody tears with math that’s why I came to UCSD. But I just did my quivalents in 20A and 20B at UM and I did an A- in 20B which is pretty alright…plus I’m transferring credit so I’m not in need of an A.

Ravi Shroff is my professor. It’s 5 weeks so should be less of a drag.

I have Shroff right now. He has been pretty good so far. Easy to understand. I have the mid-term next week so I’ll have a better idea of how “nice” he is.

I think he is a grad student. I could be wrong. He is young though.

I believe it’s university practice that every class is taught by a PhD. This may be a lecturer or postdoc and not a professor, but should definitely not be a graduate student.

Not the case in the Social Sciences. I’ve been taught by pre-doctoral students over summer on numerous occasions and have TAed for a friend of mine.

He is listed as a graduate student on the math website. Maybe he graduated this spring?

anyone know the main difference between 10c and 20c?
