Mine broke :( But I'm getting a new one :) but I don't know which :( can you help me if you're technically gifted or just had good experience with a specific product? :)

I recommend the Canon Powershot SD1100 IS.

I recommend the Canon Powershot SD1000, which is sort of like the one tisthemorning mentioned. That's the one I have and after I broke my other camera I did a lot of research and this is one of the best cameras out there for the price. Look it up

I also have the Canon sd1000. It's small, reliable, intuitively designed, and takes great pictures. It's one of the most highly recommended point-and-shoot cameras out there.

It is an older model, which means you can get it for pretty cheap (about $150 new).

Where did you guys get yours (Canon SD1000)? It sells at $250 in the stores around me, and it's not that much cheaper on the Internet. Maybe I'm going to the wrong sites?

If you've got the cash, get a DSLR. A D40 (the base model) will run you $300+ (used, ebay) to $500 (or somewhere around that brand new). Average price is, I'd say between $700 and $900 for DSLRs, and I've seen them up to $20,000.

Another vote for the Canon SD line...I got a Canon SD750 for about $189 at best buy. I also paid $30 for a 2 year warranty that covers accidents (necessary for college)! The SD750 has a bigger screen than the SD1000, but you don't have a manual viewfinder, but I still think it looks cooler.

I have the Canon SD1100 and love it.

i have the kodak easyshare e613, and it's fantastic... plus, on the cheap side... with a $15 memory chip, it can hold more than 800 pics.

You really can't beat the Canon cameras. Basically anything is good; just get one that fits your price.

Buying a DSLR is a horrible idea if you're not at least an amateur photographer by trade.

OK, I may have been exaggerating a little with the $150 quote. I have seen them on sale for that price (in fact, as low as $120 at one point), but the normal retail prices are usually higher.

I recommend just waiting around for the next deal to come along. slickdeals.net is a good site for monitoring deals on electronics.

The SD1000 is an older camera. The only places that still have them in stock are the ones that charge too much (ie., $250).

Amazon has the Canon PowerShot 1100 for about $185.00 and free shipping.

I have a Canon PowerShot SD850 IS, and it's fantastic. I don't think you can go wrong with the PowerShot SD line, especially if you're looking for a simple point-and-shoot camera.

I'll plug for the SD870 IS
Just got it, takes very nice pictures compared to my old sony point and shoot
I'm a little bias but it generally receives better reviews than all other canon cameras

i got mine from best buy for about $180. it wasn't on sale. so i don't know what the prices are wherever you're looking but it's usually cheaper at places like best buy, fry's, or circuit city

also, did you try amazon?

Any of the canon cameras are great. The ones with Image Steady (IS) are even better.

The Canon SD series is great (really everything by Canon is great). I have an SD850 IS and I love it, it takes great pictures for a point and shoot.

Right now I'm trying to decide between SD1100 and SD 850. The former is $60 cheaper, but the latter gives better quality photos in some cases...
