Decent camera in the $100 - $200 range

Can anyone help me out? I just want a durable camera that can take good quality pictures for uploading. If you can recommend one in the $150 range, that would be ideal. Thanks.

my boyfriend's really into photography and when i wanted to get a camera, he said you pretty much need to spend between $150 and $250 to get a nice one. i settled on the newest canon powershot but almost got a nikon coolpix (slightly cheaper). those are both nice cameras but the powershot had a viewfinder (i don't like wasting the battery using the LCD screen all the time) and some kind of thing that minimizes shaking (for when i take drunk party pictures, which will be the main function of the camera haha). otherwise, he said they were pretty much the same quality.

..he has a nikon digital SLR (which means: big, expensive, black camera that recently was stolen in barcelona!) and wasn't exactly super supportive when i discussed my number one camera priority: that it came in fun colors. ;)

i second the canon powershot. you can get some decent ones for 150. also, make sure you buy online b/c it's much cheaper.

canon powershot sd1000 is sweet -- ive had it for about 6 months now, and i love it! it has some really cool features too -- like the color accent photos, so that everything else is B&W except the color you choose... other than that, great quality pictures, small, lightweight...great camera

The SD1000 is a little outdated by now, but I agree that it's an incredible personal camera. I would recommend a PowerShot A590 IS, or if you want an SD series then get an SD750. The A590 IS is about $150, the SD750 is about $175.

I just recently bought a Nikon CoolPix L16 from WalMart. So far its been an amazing camera. If you can find one, I suggest buying it. They sell out pretty quickly where I live. The camera is only $99 and is 7.1 megapixels. This kind of value is pretty good especially for what you are getting.

Get a powershot, then go here: Downloads - CHDK Wiki

What will you primarily use your camera for?
Most basic digitals cameras have the quality picture.
What type of zoom do you want? Pixels will be around the same, unless you upgrade to an SLR or a more high end model.
There are many infomative websites that rate cameras and give great explanations on the different models.
If its just for recreational use, I think you should just go for the best deal, and maybe buy a memory card.
I have a fiji which lasted the past 4 years, took it Spain with me, the quality was good. Fiji aren't compatible with generic brand cards, which is a fallback.
Just look online to find one which will meet your needs, because everyones different.

get a small pocket-sized camera; I like the Lumix FX55 or FX33, which are made by Panasonic. New they cost around $250, but you can probably find a used one on eBay for less. Pocket sized is great; they take good pictures and you'll always have it with you when you want to be carrying it.

u cant go wrong with a sony cyber shot
i've abused my camera so badly
and it still works perfectly
= )

The Casio Exilim 7.2 Mega Pixels isn't bad either. It's a really good beginner digital camera. I went online and did a ton of research (like 3 days) before I went out and bought this one. It's really pretty and I think mine was like 200 w/ two year warranty. I got mine from Wal-Mart.

I love the Canon SD line...you can get an SD750 or SD1000 really cheap because they're the older models, and they still work great. If you buy a camera, definitely get it from Best Buy and get the accidental damage replacement warranty. It's only an extra $30 and protects you from any kind of damage that may happen to your camera---you could drop it and they would replace it.

My D got a Kodak Easy Share 12 megapixel from Amazon for less than $170 and free shipping. I can't believe what nice pictures that little camera takes.
