Dilemma - ok not really but please read

Hi, I am wondering when I should take AP environmental science, if at all.

These will be my schedules for junior and senior year:

(All 2 sem classes)

Junior:
Religion
AP English Language
AP Physics B
Computer Science: Advanced Data Structures (post-AP)
AP US History
Spanish 4 AP
Free Period

Senior:
Religion
AP English Literature
AP Physics C
AP Spanish 5
AP Art History
AP European History (probably) or AP Psychology
Free Period

I want to take AP ES and am thinking about when to take it. Should I replace my Free Period Junior (next) year with APES (I have a rigorous schedule and Junior year is very important, so I'm leaning against it - I do NOT want any B's or lower)? Or, should I replace my Free Period Senior year with APES (the schedule this year may be even harder however). Or, should I replace one of the histories (AP Art History/AP Euro) with AP ES in senior year (and self study the replaced history class)?? Or, should I just self - study the APES exam itself?

Plz give me advice. I had straight A's last year with honors/AP courses, and straight A's last semester with honors/AP courses, except a B+ in religion -_-. I am doing decent this semester, though I don't want to jinx it. However, AP english I know will be a lot of work, so I'm leaning towards keeping a free period. Advice please?

either self-study or drop one of the AP English’s or History’s you don’t need.

If I drop AP english, I’ll still have to take regular english so i would lack a free anyway
I might drop Euro though, but I’d still like to self study it in that case

Thanks for the reply
also, does taking the class + ap and getting a 5, look any better than just taking the AP and getting a 5? because I will be a math/sci major…

Well to be honest, there are some colleges that don’t even give you credit for getting a 5 on the APES Exam, I know Yale doesn’t, but that’s an overly prestigious example. APES is one of the easiest AP’s to take. An A in any AP is good, if you stick with A’s in almost all classes you should be fine. If you’re looking to fit APES into your schedule try dropping a class that you know won’t correlate with your life, because colleges make sure to accept kids who studied what they are interested in.

I’m taking all the other AP science exams as well, and APES and Bio are probably the least math-oriented i.e. furthest out of my career path. So do you suggest I just self study it, or take the class for the GPA boost? I want to take the AP exam either way, even if I don’t get credit at whatever school.

I would take the class senior year personally, but only because it’s easy and it’ll take a load off of you from your hard classes. I’m taking it senior year along with AP Lit (Maybe), AP Gov, AP Stat, maybe another AP and a couple of honors classes.

other people do you agree with him?

I really didnt bother reading your post, but I will tell you this, Don’t plan your schedule two years in advance. And by the middle of your Senior year, you wont give a crap about class, and you will thank yourself for not taking extra classes

^second the second part. (although you may want to plan it out so you have the time to fit in all the classes you do want to take.)

@Forkingjamie it’s one year in advance, since i was deciding whether to take it next year or not

I honestly think you should just self study APES. I took APES and biology at the same time, and honestly APES killed a couple of my brain cells. It was so pointless and easy, compared to Bio.

APES is easy peasy mckeasy.
