Dilemma

like math and science (i’m pretty good at it). But I also love to act, though I don’t have much experience in it. I did not apply to any drama schools (age old stupid reason: Art is not a real job) and hence will be attending a college with an Astrophysics major (prospective). But I feel I should give my passion for performing a chance, I feel that if I had the chance to study performance as I studied Math I would excel in it too. Though the university that my parents can afford doesn’t offer a theatre arts/acting/performing studies minor. Also, they do not allow to double major with theatre arts. Moreover, University of Cincinnati’s CCM is very popular for theatre arts major but I do not know if I can transfer to CCM from College of Arts and Sciences with very little experience in acting.
Is there a way that I can study acting (on campus or somewhere in the city) and then be prepared enough for my auditions so that I stand I chance If i choose to apply to a good Drama/Acting School.
P.S.- I am an International Student

It looks like you could at least get a start with Theatre courses for non-majors at CCM – http://ccm.uc.edu/resources/students/non-majors/theatre-appreciation.html. they also have dance and music courses for non-majors.

Also look into the Drama Club for non-major performance opportunities – https://orgsync.com/133577/chapter

Thank you for replying. The non-profit major courses that you suggested for acting are for graduate level studies.right?
I would love to join the drama club:)

While Acting II has a graduate designation next to it (although that seems odd to me since graduate students rarely have time to take classes CV outside of their emphasis) the others do not.

Contact the department or your academic advisor to confirm.

Definitely. I’ll do that. Thanks
