Dining Halls at UCF

I have a few questions regarding the dining halls at UCF.
Can students who DO NOT have a meal plan eat in the main dining halls on pay per use basis? How much is lunch/dinner?
As far as quality and crowds, is one dining hall preferred over the other?
Thanks for any information you can provide me!

Anyone can eat at the dining halls, even professors, guests, people on tour, etc. No meal plan is required. Breakfast is about $6 I think and lunch/dinner about $8. I’d say they’re both pretty good but some people prefer one to the other. I honestly can’t find much of a difference other than going to the one that’s closet to where you live.

Thanks marlins! Trying to figure out if the meal plan would be worth it for us, leaning towards not getting a meal plan. Thanks again!

No problem, it all really depends on how you make use of it. I personally would have liked one for this year just because I found myself eating at the dining hall a lot more than I thought I would. I’m a second year student and have a kitchen in my dorm but really have not cooked at all and I prefer the healthier options you can find at the dining halls over just the fast food at the student union. Though as far as value my room mate says that only the unlimited plan saves you money. According to him, the block plans don’t really save you that much money than if you just pay full price like I do. The unlimited plan is pretty pricey but it can be worth it since you can get your 3 meals there along with showing up more than that during the day if you just want a snack or a drink.

My mom really wants me to get a meal plan, despite the fact that I’ll have a full kitchen in my dorm. She keeps going on about some meal plan where you can use it anywhere on campus, not just in dining halls. Do you know what this is?

Well theTARDIS, each meal plan not only comes with a number of swipes you can use at the dining halls (except for the unlimited which obviously has no cap) but they also come with a certain amount of dining dollars depending on which plan you get. Dining dollars can be use at any restaurant on campus.
