For those of you that have done it...
How was the experience? How long did the dinner/evening last? Are you in touch with anyone you met?

I never get your invitation, dude …

Great! usually pretty fun, meet people but don’t always keep in touch afterwards, randomly will run into them and have a oh hey moment. Anywhere from 2 hours, to late late at night depending on how conversations go.

just got back from one last night, and i’m doing it again tonight.

last night i actually had dinner with 40 people instead of 12 because the host wanted a lot of guests and had a really big and well put together house. he had an open bar and went by the “honor system” too which was a plus, at least for me. at the end of the night, i knew like 10 people out of those 40 really well and added them on facebook, we’ll see how it goes.

for the first 30 minutes you socialize with everyone, then the next hour you play games made by the host, then the actual dinner, dessert, then more games, and then socializing one last time/leaving. event lasted from like 7 to 10, and the host let us stay for as long as we wanted to socialize even after people were leaving. definitely something i recommend you do every year at ucla.

I did one last night also. The dinner separated into two separate groups early on so I didn’t talk to as many people as I planned to, but it was interesting. I met a Music History major who used to live in both Mexico City and Tokyo in addition to meeting an aspiring obstetrician who was on the front page of the San Diego Union-Tribune for getting her appendix removed right before prom. I would definitely do it again next year.
