I hope some of you sign up. I'm hosting one on March 1st and have asked for north campus left wingers, assuming there's still a couple of them left on campus. Must love dogs.

lol!
how does dinner for 12 strangers work?

doesn't asking for people that are all related somewhat defeat the purpose of having dinner with 12 strangers

For eating or hot ones? (Or both?)

Dogs are a plus. South campus moderate here, but I can hang with the northies.

Dinner for 12 Strangers is in its 40th Year, and it is an event sponsored by the UCLA Alumni Association, of which I have been a lifetime member for years! Us "oldies" (in years, not in spirit!) sign up, and agree to have 12 undergrads (the "strangers") come over to our respective homes one night for dinner and conversation. We try to get a professor to come as well -- sometimes that works, sometimes not, but it's generally a fun evening for all and free food and drink; and a good way for the "strangers" to meet each other and not be stuck with dining commons food. It gives you the chance to meet an alumni or two or three. You'll see ads to sign up around campus -- in fact, I saw one as I entered Ackerman last weekend after attending the women's basketball game.

Deuces, we're happy to take in a lost soul like you. It will add to the mix.

The alumni (at my home) this year will include a former English major, French major, Political Science major, an emergency room doctor, and a non-alumni actress. And the two dogs.

i went last year and will go to all 3 this year. GREAT. go. signup now it fills up

how do u sign up

Look up UCLA Alumni Association. Go to the left-side panel and search for the events. Find the Dinner thing.

... I want a professor. James Liao

CalendarEvents - Dinners

You have until Jan. 25th to sign up. Right on the form, you can request that the host invite a particular professor. They try really hard to accommodate the request.

This year we're hosting for a particularly good reason -- our son is a Freshman at Berkeley and we miss him a lot and he misses a good meal. He wishes they'd have the same thing up there.

Also, my husband and I just celebrated our 30 year anniversary of our graduation from UCLA (where we met).

thanks for the link! :)
i signed up for one but it's not march 1 (i was only free feb 24).
