I have both 2010 versions. I will take SAT next December(2012, December). Will there be a new version 2012 next year? If so, I will wait and buy 2012 version, if not I will consider buying the 2011 version.

the earlier the better, start studying now
it takes time to learn all the vocab in the book (there’s about a 1000 of them if you check the glossary)

thanks, I already knew all words from my 2010 version. Since there are some new words in 2011 version. Should I wait for 2012 version or buy 2011 version?

Be on the lookout for a post by a DH person or a CC member (in the summer, I think) to fill out an online form to get copies of the new DH early to be a reviewer.

Since you already have the 2010 editions, I would not recommend waiting for the 2012 editions. There will be very few changes, if any at all, and these changes would not be worth the $25+ that it costs to buy both books of DH again.

You can email the DH people at their website DirectHitsEducation.com and let them know you would like to be a reviewer this summer when the new books come out.

I am not sure it is correct to say that there will not be many changes since they have added a lot of new words the last 2 years. That’s what makes them so good, they actually update their books with words from previous SATs which most books don’t on a regular basis.

Direct Hits: Toughest Words - Very Disappointing
By Namaste2400
If you already have the 3rd edition, there is absolutely no reason to buy the 4th edition. I’d say at least 80 percent of the examples and all of the questions are from the 3rd edition. The book is just 135 pages long - 34 pages shorter than the 3rd edition. There are just 12 new words. This book is not a “direct hit.” I’d say a foul tip at best.

The above review copied from the DH website has the answer–don’t purchase.
Looks like they aren’t dating the books anymore, instead giving them an edition number.
The few new words that they add can be found by checking quizlet from time to time, before they get deleted. Someone posted flashcards for the two 2011 books, but have since been deleted…
