Having read a bit on CC, I'm not entirely surprised about the financial aid package from Nova. Here's what my package states:

Your estimated cost of attendance is $47,285.00.
You have been awarded financial aid which totals $47,285.00.

Non-Sub Stafford Loan Offered fund $3,500.00

VU Financing Option Offered fund $43,785.00

Guess I'm scratching Nova off my list, there's no way my family can pay that much per year. Is it even worth it?

Wake Forest is my #1 choice, so I'm hoping they offer something better than this. If not I'll have to go to my #3 choice - Northeastern, which offered 14K in merit aid. I do like Northeastern and Boston, but Wake is soooo much better IMHO.

Seriously, they listed their financing option (which I assume spreads payments out --what, for a year?) as financial aid?! I'm a firm believer that given your diligence in selecting several legit schools to apply to, karma makes things fall into place the way they should for you.... Good luck, wherever you end up!

I'm really surprised nova didn't give you more, in my experience they are pretty generous with grants and stuff. i got a $19,000 grant for next year and have friends that got similar amounts of money. finiancial aid (and admissions) is such as crap shoot. i don't understand it at all. :(

i'm definitely with you though, i wasn't anticipating getting any $$ from nova. it was a nice surprise (now i'm probably going). if they hadn't, i would have been in the same boat as you. definitely sucks though... and i hope Wake gives you a ton a money. Good Luck!!!

i was acutally surprised/pleased with my financial aid from nova. got 5,000 in federal loans but then also a 6,500 grant. a nice surprise because all i got from bc and lehigh was a 3,500 federal loan each.

not sure if this had made my decision yet, but it is appealing

That's strange...About 5 or 6 girls from my class got in and they all had the most amazing fin aid packages with HUGE grants. Colleges seem to be random this year with admissions and fin aid. Sorry to hear about your package good luck w. Wake Forest =)
