Disciplinary dismissal UC senior ....trying to tranfer, needs HELP!!

Hello, everyone. As the title said, I'm a senior student from UCR who got disciplinary dismissed because of cheating during a test....Currently I have 182 degrees with a Media and Cultural Studies and Business minor. My current GPA is 2.538. What should I do right now? I'm thinking about transferring to a CSU or a private college. What are my chances to getting in? Should I tell them right away that I got dismissed because of cheating? Also if I do get transferred, how long will it take for me to get my BA degree??

PLEASE HELP ME!

bump, please help

Dude, cheating is a BIG red flag on your record. To get in any school you really need to convince administrations what have you changed since then, and things that would prevent you from cheating again. I don’t think you can get accept to any schools immediately after academic expulsion. You might have a chance after spend one or two semesters at your local junior college to redeem yourself. Call the schools you want to transfer to, and see what they say.

Yes…I regretted deeply for doing such a thing. I have no one to blame but myself and I’m willing to take the responsibility. I just emailed some CSU that I want to transfer to, waiting for their replies now. I’m planning to write an essay for me action and tell them how I have changed and what I have done that would prevent me from cheating again. Also are private universities also an option for me?

I think you should really consider readmission to UCR because many schools have an unit cap for how much units you can possibly transfer. Some private schools can take as much as 90 semester credits. But it all depends on the school, that’s why you should call them. You could possibly lose a year or half of work you have done at riverside to fulfill the minimum resident requirements. Just call the schools to find out.

I see, but on my dismissal letter it says that I can’t get readmission to UCR or other UCs, so UC systems are not in my options now. That’s why I’m try to get into CSU or private Universities. I just called CSU Fullerton about my case and they say I should go to a community college first. The reason is because in order to transfer to CSU you need to have good standing from previous school. So if I do well in community college and have a good standing there then I’m eligible to transfer to a CSU… I don’t know about private university though. I heard that USC doesn’t see your standing at previous college, I will need to ask them. But for now it seems like I will have to lose a year or half work I have done at UCR…sigh this makes me headache. Thank you Teemoo for replying!

FYI. This is what it says in the letter. “Readmission to the University shall require the specific approval of the Chancellor of the campus to which a dismissed student has applied. Readmission after dismissal may be granted only under exceptional circumstances.”

USC and 2.5 don’t go together…

What did you do? …Was it bad, or something relatively innocent blown out of proportion? Was it your first offence? I think you should listen to Fullerton and go to a CC for a couple of semesters. Maybe get in touch with a counselor from UCR and discuss your options. The letter says you still have a shot at readmission under exceptional circumstances, which might include a well structured appeal after you’ve proven yourself at a CC.
