I was looking up the books I need for next semester. The only class I have a problem with is math 408K because they do not yet have a professor assigned for that class. Should I get the book yet? I will order it from the co-op because I can’t find it anywhere else (amazon, half.com, etc.).
The book is the most expensive book I have to buy ($131.25). Any suggestions? Is this book a generic one for every calculus course?
It is:
CALCULUS (CUSTOM) 6TH 2007,
STEWART
ISBN:9780495482765

do they have enough books for everyone taking the class? I don’t want to wait last minute and find out they don’t have anymore

I Hope UT, are you taking calculus as well?
I am just going to buy the book. I’ve heard books run out quickly and it’s mayhem at the co-op at the beginning of the school year. I found out the calculus book I need is one that certain math classes need, so I definitely need it.

“do they have enough books for everyone taking the class?”

They are supposed to but they’ve run out with some of my classes before. That’s why they want you to order it online in advance if you are going to buy it from them. I’d order it if you know for sure you are getting it that way you can just pick it up from them without having to hunt for it.

“mayhem at the co-op at the beginning of the school year”

True. I’m not going down there when classes start.

How does the bookstore at Dobie compare to the Co-op? Which is overall cheaper? Also, should I order my books right now from an online retailer so it will arrive in the next two weeks or should I just wait to see which books I need for sure and just buy it from either the Co-op or the store at Dobie? About when do students actually start using the textbooks like what class day? I don’t want to have to pay too much for them if I can buy them online right now and have them in about 2 weeks when school starts and save a lot of money. I looked at the required textbook list on the co-op website and it says I need 3 books that are required for my classes. Should I go ahead and purchase these books because it says they are required? Also, would purchasing an international edition be okay for classes like biology and psychology? I heard its the same exact thing except its paperback but it seems to be considerably cheaper than the U.S. version of the same book.

Yes I am samster…I guess I’ll order them now…we don’t pay until we get there right?

Also, if i order Used books, do I get to choose which used book I want when i get there? I don’t want highlighting or notes already in it…

If you order online and use a credit/debit card to pay they charge it when they have pulled the books for you and it’s ready for pick up.

So you pay before you get there.

If the Coop does not have a textbook needed for a class the professors will usually cut the class some slack.

If Amazon or ordering used books online screws you over, they usually won’t.
