Discover Day analysis.

1

Whoa.... cmonnnn

UCR is suppose to be 2nd out of all UC's with highest asian population.

At discover day, the only asians I saw were about 10 percent only from the students who were visiting.

The rest, AND the volunteers/staff/student RA's were all hispanic or black.

Am i missing something?

2

The dorms are very nice...but they werent as massive as I thought they would be; however, I haven't visited any other campus's and their dorms, so I can't say that their dorms are small. My friend who was with me said, it was pretty big compared to the other UC dorms.

Pentland hills was the nicest.

-It has a microfridge FOR FREE, for each room.
-Wardrobe for each person in the dorm
-Lots of common areas
-Computer halls
-500 PAPER PRINTING LIMIT PER QUARTEr. ...CMON 500 PAGES! thats crazy -lolz ^^

3 very nice campus, compared to the ones my friend said he saw.

I liked how the university was integrated into a closer campus, not all spread out like Irvine, which was impossible to navigate.

4 Parking was simple. not all over the place ^^

5 The financial aid officer was a B****. She wouldn't help me at all, and allow me to explain my situation.

Basically my fafsa EFC is 9300 My brother's EFC is 0

I have to pay 15,000 ...my brother pays 6.50 per year ..yes thats six dollars and 50 cents, you can continue astonishing urself.
Twins from the same family. lol?

I found out its clearly Fafsa messed up, or my brother failed to report something.

So I realized, it would end up being, either i got a better deal similar to my brother, OR my brother pays more cause he didnt report something that they overlooked.

So in essence, I realized that by calling fafsa I would technically be selling my brother out, and thats not what I'm about. Nah mean?

6 These dudes were dancing caipoiera (slower form of break dancing), ...head spins and stuff..pretty cool.

7 Everyone was white,black, hispanic

8 Not enough asians.

9 Everyone was white, black, hispanic

10 Everyone was white, black, hispanic

on 2nd thought.. April 28th is Poetry Reading Day...

Maybe there was a massive Shakespearean play / group that abducted all of our asians. ^^ JK

Funniest memory of UCR DISCOVER DAY:

Upon exploring the inside of the dorms of Pentland hills, my friend and I followed the Student RA into one of the rooms,

and discovered a old white couple with measuring tapes out and measuring the bed, the wardrobe, etc.

And they saw us and said.... "ooo sorry, were just measuring stuff"

The RA said ...thats alright...with a smirk on her face.

My friend and I doubled over laughing.

Another thing....... my friend told me that at the math department...facebook, and all the othe rresources/profiles on seniors coming next fall. He found out that almost every UCR person was at algebra2 or Math analysis.

Few were at Calculus regular.

My friend and I were like...probably the last 1 percent that passed AP calculus junior year -_x

There is a large enough asian population at UCR that you won't feel unformatable, at all. I'm pretty sure our largest ethnic group is asian and then followed behind by hispanic. Parking isn't hard to find most of the times either, but you're going to have to walk a bit into campus.

As for your brother's FAFSA and yours, I would definitely go over both of them and look to see what is different. If there is something different your brother reported, then he may need to change that especially if it's something that they'll verify later on. What will end up happening if they find out is that he'll have to pay back that money that he received in grants, etc. You just want to make sure everything is accurate on both because if you missed something extra that will lower your EFC it's worth going over. If he put something too much or too little, it may be better in the long run to just change it and make it correct. I ended up owing like $1000 back because of something I had accidently reported incorrectly. Just trying to help prevent your family from having to do the same!

Well as for the asian thing, all the people I know that are going to UCR are asian.

When school is actually in session, you will see more asians than anything else.

All of the asians go home on the weekend.

I actually saw a lot of nonasians when i visited ucr. My friend who goes there told me ucr is the most diverse UC.
