Discover Middlebury 2010

Yeah I definitely appreciate being accepted! But I cannot bring myself to miss two days of school. Nobody has yet to convinced me of anything FUN going on during this trip. It’s on the first two days of the week and I just feel like there will be nothing to do. But thanks for your advice anyway  I still think I’ll decline by tomorrow.

Good! One more spot for someone who actually might get something out of it!

^ There’s no waitlist unfortunately.

Speaking as a former Disco midd kid, they arrange the visit for sun-tues because friday and saturday nights here are crazy. Nobody wants drunk prospie’s running around campus.

thats a let down! but im still eager to listen in to classes and get a feel for the school.

also, won’t it look bad if you got accepted to a school’s flyaway program then declined?

Hey FrenchSilkPie! Ya know, it probably does look bad but I don’t think I’m applying anyways. As an AA, I’m looking for a more diverse school. But I hope everyone has fun during this trip anyways! Be sure to post lots about it.

blarghh–Where are you from?

Has anyone received their itinerary yet? They said they would email mine by today, but I still haven’t gotten it. :(

Yea I got nothing yet either. Then sent me an email asking if they can change my airport, and I said sure, but I got nothing after that.

Got my itinerary today! On the flight home, I have 35 minutes to switch airplanes… That’s gonna suck.

I would kill for that for my visit to Pomona. I have a three hour wait between flights!

Is everyone excited to visit? And is anyone going to any other diversity programs?

Lucky! I was accepted to Pomona’s Fall Weekend, but I cant go because I didnt get a travel grant. I’ll still apply anyway. Yup, I’m going to 2-3 more. Hopefully just 1 more and I will skip out on the others because I will have missed 7 total days of school!

I’m sorry to hear that. Yea I got accepted to the Pitzer, Tufts, and Bates one as well. I can’t go to Tuft’s, however, since I’ll be out a full week basically since I’ll be at Midd from Monday to Tuesday and than Tufts from Thursday to Friday. And I’m so upset I can’t go to Bates! I didn’t realize the Pomona visit and Bates fall on the same weekend >,<! I’m nervous though that it will look badly if I decline.

You missed 7 day already? lol are they all for programs? I think with the three I attend, I’ll miss 6 days of schools.

I would rather have 3 hours than 35 minutes… I have to A) Find my way around the Philly airport B) Get to my next gate and check in and C) Do all of this in 35 minutes, most likely less (taking into account the time it takes to un-board a plane).

To add to this (not!) wonderful idea, I am horribly directionally challenged. Even my dad joked that he should just drive to the Philly airport and pick me up there… And Philly’s a good 6 or 7 hours drive from our house.

On another note, I’ve been to Wellesley’s Discover Wellesley program this past Sunday to Monday, and of course, I’m going to Midd’s. I’m slightly nervous about missing two days in a row–never, ever, in my academic career, have I missed two days in one year, let alone in a row! Actually, after all is said and done, I will have missed three in the past two weeks…

I don’t know how you guys do it.

hahah really sciencefrenchie? hahaha that’s so funny! are you the perfect attendence type of person?

I was supposed to go to GWU but I don’t know if I want to miss that much school…that means I will miss 9 total school days with all the programs and at my school you can only have 11 abscences for the year. gotta make some sacrifices since I really want to visit Connecticut College next month!

Yeah, all these days are for the programs! hahaha but it’s fun. I LOVE flying, love airplanes, love airports. hopefully I will love midd!

I’m so excited for Midd  pretty sure this will be the highlight of my fall.

I got into the Explore Bowdoin program too, so I’ll be missing 4 days of school in 2 weeks. Ehhh–but I’ve missed more before, and it was okay.

And I’m still waiting to hear from Wesleyan to see if I got a travel grant. Those are the three colleges I applied to visit.

heh. One of my connections is in Chicago. That airport is pretty hellish. It never ends. o.0

since when does pomona have one of these?! :(

They always had I heard, but they don’t publicize it. I saw a dead link on the diversity program thread, and I emailed asking if there was one for this year and they gave me an application. I posted that link actually on that same thread.

Does anyone know if they’re going to interview us while we’re there?

Yea I was wondering the same thing. I would hope so.

Fellow New Yorkers, wtactualf is up with the trains today? I waited at the trainstation since 9am and now I’m back home and apparently catching a 4pm train to albany and then a bus all the way up to vermont. ■■■! I should’ve been at middlebury TWO HOURS AGO -_-
