Take the B+ and be happy about it. If the professor had wanted to round up the grade, he would already have done it. Contact the dean?!? Never!
My dad just retired after teaching at UT-Austin for 52 years. He got tired of this kind of nonsense. If somebody complained about a test grade, he would go back and check the exam VERY thoroughly. It wasn’t always to the student’s advantage.
Advice? I would say…he got a B+ and that is that. What else is there to advise?
And adding to this…there is NOTHING WRONG with a B+. It’s a fine grade.
And mom and dad should definitely stay out of this. It’s his life to figure out.
The only reason he should go to the professor is to learn how to improve his learning and his skill set, not to raise his grade by a half point. That’s just insulting.
Even if he’d failed the course, he is going to have to learn how to stumble and even fall down on his own, and get back up again, without assistance from mom and dad. He’s an adult now. Let him adult on his own.
He earned a B+. What else is there to do?
I agree.
Thank you for the opinions.
He got a B+. Good job!
The Dean wants none of this nonsense. Nor does the instructor.
A 89.4 is not a 90. In football you get a touchdown by breaking the plane, not getting inches close. Most of life is like that as well. The kind of kid who whines about stuff like this will poison their reputation. Absolutely do not go to a dean. What are you thinking?
