Dismissal from college ?

Okay I transferred into the University of Delaware as a sophomore. I went to a small Catholic college before and i left that school with a GPA of 3.27. I now go to UD and my life has changed drastically. I started getting severe anxiety attacks weeks prior to a test while I'm studying and I thought they were normal until I spoke to my friend about it. During Thanksgiving break I went to my doctor and she prescribed me with pills to deal with my anxiety. By the time I started taking my medication it was too late to bring up my grades for the semester. I received a 1.00 for this semester and got an email saying I've been Academically Dismissed. With this decision I will have to go to school part time but financially my family cannot afford it because I would have to buy a car and find an apartment because my mom said I can't live at home.

In the email they said if I am a first year student I can appeal this decision by taking to the Assistant Dean of my College and going in front of a panel. They also said I could only do this if I have a legit reason for my poor academic standing. My parents are so disappointed about don't think I will win my appeal. Do you guys think I have a valid reason for my appeal?

Since you were prescribed medication for a medical condition, you have the records available that can make an appeal. This appeal will probably hold weight because you were given legitimate medical attention (you obviously aren’t using these anxiety attacks as an excuse because a medical professional treated you for them).
If you can tell them the consequences you will face if dismissed, promise them that under this condition you will work hard again, and tell them how much your education means to you, I think you will stand a good chance at appeal.
Good luck.
