What do you guys think of the Disney College Program?

I would love to do it for the great experience, making lifetime friendships, love of Disney, etc.

But I am not too happy about having to take a semester off to do it. If it were only during the summer I would do it in a heart beat but taking off a semester of seems impossible.

Most people I know liked it and had fun, but it’s definitely not a guarantee that it’ll lead to a good Disney career. I know lots of people that did it, and then post-college-graduation were stuck with mediocre jobs. So it’s definitely not a guarantee that it’ll lead to anything great.

I know that some people absolutely loved it (yes, it is no guarantee of a job after college), but also, Disney is not a corporation that everyone works well under and some people come back from the experience realizing that. It isn’t called Moushwitz for no reason. ;)

If I had nothing else to do in the summer, I’d rather do this than work at a coffee shop since you’re practically getting paid the same wage and doing the same menial labor. In essence, I would do it because it’s fun and not to get any real meaningful internship work experience as the jobs are nothing more than minimum wage labor (i.e. serving popcorn, collecting tickets, etc.)

Given the choice between the DCP vs an internship at a financial institution, I’d take the latter any day.
