anyone in it or considering it? Im really considering it because afterwards I will get the oppurtinity to apply for an intership that you can only apply for after you complete the program.

I really am interested in the college program also even though I'm still a senior in high school I really would love to be a part of it when I get into college. It seems like a good experience and I think it looks great on a resume.

I have many friends who did it, and they all hated it. A friend of mine who goes to NYU did it last year and left a few weeks early because she disliked it so much. You're worked to the bone and you're paid very, very little, barely enough to even get by on.

i never recommend doing internships at big firms and the such because you wont get the amount of exposure you would at a small business.

for example i worked for a big company once and i did clerical work and then i worked at a small business company and i basically played the role of manager without the title.

Yea but I actually want to work for Disney after college. I dont plan on getting rich the pay is minimum and they have jobs where you can be tipped plus you get some sweet perks. It seems like a cool way to meet people, do something different, and work my way up the Disney ladder.

The thing with doing the disney internship program is they pay you barely anything AND you have to pay to stay there - so basically you don't make any money the entire time youre there, and you are behind the rest of your class as far as credits care concerned.

I know they take your rent out of the paycheck and only leave you with $100+ for the week. As far as credits are concerned some people have recieved 12 credits for it so I will speak to my advisor to see if I will get credit.

they pay you $6/hr and then they take between $69-$79 out of your pay check each week for rent. your usually left with about $40 a week to spend on food and spending money. There are a lot of cool people who do the program, but also you get a large amount of lazy/sketchy people. In talking with people who were on the program with me it seems as though the people who do the normal stint of 4 or so months end on good terms, but those who stay for the extended one end up hating the place. It also doesnt help that the majority of the managers dont really know what they are doing.

With that being said, I am happy overall that i went down there. Not because of the work, but because of the friends I made on the trip.

I did not participate in this program myself when I was in college, but I had two good friends who did and they LOVED it. They each did the summer term so that it didn't actually cost them a fall or spring semester. They really enjoyed the experience of learning how Disney worked and meeting all of the people from all over. Like I said, I didn't do it myself, but have always heard positive feedback from those who did it for a few months.
