div1 football vs no football schools

some schools have division 1 football, so a lot of the kids go to the game on saturday. for those who are at schools that don't have football (or where nobody goes to the games), then what do you guys do on your saturdays/weekends instead?

the library, duh!

... hopefully our student support will be a lot better this year after we made it to the national semi finals last year (I-AA)

maybe some other sport is really popular there?

Duke football doesn't get many supporters at all, but many people go to the tailgating parties on Saturday. :)

schools with no div1 football go to KFC on saturdays.

Ummm... we do everything else!

Study
Sleep
Party
Go hiking
Go to the theater
Play intramurals sports
Volunteer
Float down the river...

Whatever YOU probably try to squeeze in on weekdays!

my college didn't have a football team.. but we had all the other times. i personally chose to do things with friends on weekends, or go home and visit my family. i was just at penn state for the game this past weekend and all i could say was I'm glad i don't go there.

kfc4u, why do you say you were glad that you didn't go to penn state?

bosoxswim,

i dont get it? i didn't say anything about penn state... and i don't go there either...

o.O?

(S)he was asking fendergirl, I believe.

I could not imagine Fall Semester Saturdays without football.

i couldnt imagine fall without football period

Schools without football really suck. Especially they have a field on campus and it feels so empty because it seems like no team is playing there. Well, that's my experience with a school with no football.

like for me, all a football team does is drive up the cost of tuition. why should i pay more to go to college so we can give scholarships to the football team and maintain the football stadium and things like that. plus then tons of people come and i'm not a huge people person like that.. don't get me wrong, i love football, and i'm a huge eagles fan.. i just don't see the need for football at my college.

and as for the penn state comment, wayyyyy too many people :)

some (not all) football programs bring in money for the school, and make the students happier. Happier students = better school.

Go to Hockey games!

but if you go to a school with a nicely endowed athletics department who also happens to collect fat paychecks cuz it plays in a BCS conference.... hehe ;)

i'd rather go to a school that is well endowed in general, and have them pass that money on to everyone by way of cheaper tuition.. not just scholarships for student athletes.

Well, it is possible to have it both ways -- dIII schools don't give athletic scholarships, but many (most?) of them do have football.

yeah, and like i mentioned above.. then you have to upkeep this and that and your tuition goes up. i could be wrong on this, that's just my opinion of the whole thing.. i mean don't get me wrong, i love football... i'm just glad my college didn't have it
