I just got accepted to Fairfield and they offered me a great scholarship. I’m just apprehensive about going because I recently heard about the ghetto party that happened this year. I want to go to this school but I don’t want to go somewhere I don’t feel accepted…can someone offer some kind of clarity to the racial acceptance at this school? I know there aren’t too many black people but I just want to know if the African Americans on this campus feel welcome. Thanks
Not sure if you ever got a feel for the campus or if you chose to attend Fairfield but let us know how it turned out. My son is considering this school and I had similar concerns.
From the perspective of a person that is currently in college, one party does not necessarily dictate whether a school has a good climate or not. It is disturbing that people thought it was appropriate, but more than likely it was a small minority of students that does not represent the whole. More telling would probably be how the community responds to the instance.
@shawnspencer are you currently at Fairfield University? If so, then reflect on the overall diversity climate at the school. How did the community respond to the party situation? The media featured the party but not the response from the university.
I do not go to Fairfield University, but I grew up near the area when I was younger
