How is the diversity at BC?

There is none.

Wow at the comment above me. It is true that BC is not the most diverse college campus in the US, but BC is working at getting more diversity on campus. About 25% of the school's undergrad population is of the minority category and BC is looking to get more diverse as the years come.

Fine, the basketball and football teams have plenty. Sorry.

Is it Boston in general or the school that lacks in diversity?

Oh and will I fit in as an Asian at BC. I love to watch football, don't really follow college but i guess it'll be a good time to start :). Oh but I do hate the Patriots :(

You'd be more comfortable as an Asian at BU.

There is a large Asian population at BC. Not only that but there are SO many Asian cultural clubs. You would absolutely fit in. And I know I ton of people who don't watch football here. :P

yea... i was in the same boat as you. I'm also asian, didn't really follow college football, loved watching the NFL, and dislike the Pats. I'm fitting in well here and I love the school. The success of BC's football team has made me more engaged in BC football and college football in general. If you are longing to see some asian people, there are clubs that you can attend, like KSA (Korean Student Association) and many other asian related clubs. I would tend to say that Boston lacks diversity, but I'm from New York City, so basically everywhere I go has less diversity than New York City. It's all relative.

LOL at Bos5ton. I guess somebody was rejected and had to go to BU instead. You have my deepest sympathy Mr. Troll.

Before asking a diversity of any school, please ask yourself what does the word mean for you. Racial, social-economic, international presence, ratio of D&D enthusiasts, or host of other things. In term of Racial, BC is the same as every other school in Boston with little deviation (We are actually more diverse than Tufts and BU in term URM both in percentage and number). In term of social-economic, its financial aid makes it more attractive to low-income students than most colleges in Boston except for Harvard and MIT. In term of international students, it's below Harvard, MIT, and Tufts in term percentage but higher in term of actual students (BC is bigger than the mentioned three). In term of D&D fanatics, I don't know, but I remember my English instructor is a major player.

"And I know I ton of people who don't watch football here."
Wait. Isn't that a problem we are trying to solve, to get more people to care about our football team and stop drinking themselves to oblivion at the Mod?

For the record, not all of us were rejected by BC. Actually, a good amount were accepted. No, I didnt get rejected as I didnt apply. I was just messing around, but whatever...

Ah.. this thread has been most helpful. You guys have helped me decide to apply to BC :). BC sounds awesome, I just gotta get in now.

...Rough em up rough em up BC sucks? :D

Bo5ton is right, regardless of whether he's joking. Coming from a public school to here, I can honestly say that there is VERY little diversity. I'm white, but even so, I've never been in a situation where almost everyone around me was white.

See? ty nyy

There was one aspect of homogeneity that I liked when I visited BC: EVERYONE IS GORGEOUS :D

Yeah, it's definitely not the most diverse school, but you'll meet lots of great minds with diverse ideas, right? :)

haha everyone is gorgeous? that is nice to hear :)
i'm filipino-caucasian-native american. does the native american blood help at my chances of getting in?

That's so ridiculous that you would ask that. Why don't you concentrate on how your academics/extracurricular information might get you in, and not your race?

this thread is talking about diversity...and so am i. being hapa and native american things like this are important to me: knowing whether i'll be fitting into a diverse campus or whether i'll feel like i do in my all-white high school.

:D

I think that being Native American helps and being from Montana...
