It was a slight cultural shock to see so little diversity compared to my hometown but nonetheless I’ve had no trouble meeting a lot of ethnic groups, particularly in my engineering classes. I’d say keep looking for the right group of people. That’s the beauty of a large university is you have the opportunity to find another group of friends if one doesn’t workout. And I know for a fact that there are plenty of us here who love meeting all kinds of people regardless of color. And definitely connect with ISA. I’ve heard they’re really good at helping everyone feel welcome. One of my friends is in a couple Indian clubs and he really enjoys it

If you are a republican you will do fine at A&M irrespective of skin color.

I know several Indian kids attending A&M. Have not heard any complaints.

For what it’s worth, an Asian Ph.D. I knew, working as a optical engineer at a lab at U of Florida, went to Texas A&M (he was an international student at the time) sometime in the 1990s. He said he loved it.
