How difficult is admission into DGS compared to LAS?

The same. DGS is the newly created division for those who apply undecided which was previously a choice in LAS. The division was created not to make it harder or easier to get admitted (same LAS standards will apply as before to that) but mainly to centralize an advisory group for students after they are admitted as undecided.

But not every major in a college has the same admisson standards. I think the stats provided on their website are the average stats for each college, and not every major in that college has equal admisson standards. Would it be correct to assume that DGS would be on the lower end of LAS in terms of difficulty?

The stats provided on UIUC web-site break it down according to college. Within LAS college some majors will have higher (or even lower) 50% ranges than shown, an example being chemical engineering, which is in LAS but follows same admissions criteria as the engineering college and you need numbers similar to those shown for the engineering college which are much higher than LAS in general.

However, what is shown for LAS as a whole fairly represents what it will be for DGS. Reason: in the past, about 30% of those applying and admitted to LAS were undecided and the size of the group means it was a major factor in setting that middle 50% range that you see for LAS.
