I just got my letter in the mail too! I’m so excited! =)

Location: California

when did everyone apply?

I believe my app was postmarked July 28th.

Beatfreaks, I got the same response. They waived my fee. Sorry
If anyone cares, I sent this in back in May
Goodluck everyone, have fun :]

Dangit! I haven’t gotten my letter yet. I’m from MO. Anyone else from the Midwest get in?

join the club kiterunner except im not from the midwest.

Okay, good! At least I know someone who hasn’t gotten it yet. Which date did you apply for, cs12345?

I’m from the Midwest and I haven’t gotten a letter. So maybe it’s a location thing. Also, it seems like everybody in already is going in September. I chose October. Did anybody hear about that one?

I chose September.

For those of you haven’t heard, don’t give up. This happened with my daughter. Many of students got acceptance letter prior to hers arriving. She was certain she hadn’t been accepted. And, like someone said, if you’re applying for October, it may come later.

My daughter applied really early and was invited but can’t go in September now, so we are hoping that they can let her come in October instead.

cs12345 - it’s funny because when they sent me the application I sent it in 3 days after. I don’t know why they said, they’re no longer accepting applications. Also, I live on the east coast, so I assumed that my app would be one of the first reviewed, but I think students who aren’t from the east coast are priorty. And it makes sense. Should I send out a kid who lives on the east coast and can eventually visit the campus or send out the kid who lives on the opposite side of the country and may not have the funds to come out regularly? I think that’s the mind set they had. But I’m fine, people in the west and midwest should get first preference.

yay! I got in! Congrats to everyone who got in. I’m going in September. Let me know if you’re going.

Location: MO

Ugh, literally no mail today I don’t know why… tomorrow?:)

^ Good luck! Hopefully it’s because you applied for October.

kiterunner18, congratulations. I told you the same thing happened with my daughter. Her letter of acceptance came 3-5 days after others on this site. Best to luck to you. Amherst is awesome. Hope you like it.

Um, I don’t remember if I even PUT which date I wanted to visit. I don’t know how I made the error, but I think I may have nevertheless. Assuming there’s still a chance I’ll get a letter, do you think this hurt my chances? It was a small mistake, and the rest of my application (to my knowledge) was complete and accurate.

To everyone who has be accepted: What were your applications like? Did you have a lot of ECs and a perfect GPA? What did you talk about in your short essay?

Thank you, lmpw! What you said the other night helped relieve the anxiety of waiting. I’m REALLY looking forward to going!

@courteau91, I’m unsure about how that will impact acceptance into the program. If all other parts of your application are sound, I’m sure you’ll be fine. They’ll probably ask you to confirm the correct date if they want you to come.

In terms of my application, I’ll tell you some of my stats. I have a 3.92 UW and a 4.67 W. I’m first in my class, low-income, first generation, and an URM. I’m not involved in A TON of ECs, but I have been steadily involved in five throughout my entire high school career. I also work and volunteer. I highlighted a few personal things in my essay, and explained how I wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to visit a school so far away due to extenuating circumstances.

I’ll also contribute some stats.

GPA: 3.969 UW
SAT: 2280
ECs: Nothing too terribly extraordinary. State level nomination for drama, a couple choirs (one of which made it to state), a few leadership positions, and work experience.
Other: low income
