I recently just got rejected by UVA, which was my clear choice #1. My grades and extracurricular were not bad. I have held above a 3.0 throughout high school I am an Eagle Scout and I even attended a selective summer program at UVA. However I was not accepted and need help with deciding my future. The only other schools I applied to are JMU and Richard Bland (a 2 year school run by William and Mary). If accepted by JMU would it be better to just go there and enjoy all of my 4 years of school at one school? The other option is to attend Richard Bland for 1-2 years and then enter UVA as a transfer student. Virginia has a program where if you go to community college and do a complete a certain set of classes then a certain list of state schools (which include UVA and VT) have to accept you. Overall do you guys think I should attend JMU if I am accepted or attend Richard Bland and transfer into UVA? If it helps anyone I am interested in studying accounting. All responses are appreciated.

Transfer. Community college can be embarrassing but in the end you’ll get that UVA diploma. And it’s guaranteed acceptance, right? Sounds gr8.

I agree that you should go to a community college and then transfer, unless you really can’t stand with being at home. I know a lot of people who just couldn’t deal and wanted to be independent already. But by going to the community college first you’re saving SO much money and college is college just by going you’re doing something to be proud of!
