UVa Transfer from CC vs. 4-year University

UVa has this 2-year program with community colleges in Virginia that if they complete it, they have an automatic "in" with UVa. It's similar to the UC agreement with CCs.

I'm currently a freshman in a Virginian 4-year university. My current GPA is 4.0, and I'm pretty active with extra-curriculars. I'm also a Virginian resident.

Would it be better for me to transfer to a community college or stay in my current university if I plan to transfer to UVa?

stay in your 4-year university. If you were still in high school then you would want to go to a CC first.

My friend met all the requirements for guaranteed admission from nvcc to UVa, but rejected. I still don’t know why.

I transferred to a CC after leaving a Virginia 4-year school for the same reason, and next fall, I will be attending UVa under the same agreement. However, if you’re doing well at your current school and think you can keep it up for another year with extracurriculars, I wouldn’t leave. I left because my grades were NOT good enough to transfer, and I knew I’d have a shot at completing all the requirements for the GAA.

Good luck!

Any more input? I’m thinking about doing the same thing, applying for a transfer to UVA after 1 year at JMU/Vtech. Is this hard?
