I was wondering if my GPA from grades received in 1st and 2nd quarter of my senior year (my school is on the quarter system), can the cumulative GPA that i put on my app. My GPA is about a 3.98 right now so I want to try and get it over 4.0 so it looks nicer. Thanks.

Unfortunately not. The colleges will see the grades and thus take note if you are doing well, but the grades are not factored into the GPA. This is because GPA's are computed at the end of the year, once you have a final average of all four quarters as your grade. So one or two quarters of solid grades are not put into your GPA. HOWEVER, don't let that be a reason not to work hard. Colleges will see the individual quarter grades of your senior year, so make an impression. Good luck!

What mooseman976 stated is not true in all cases. It varies from school to school as some factor in grades after one semester, while others factor it in at the end of the year. It depends on your school does it, and when your school does it. If it does get factored in by the time you send in your applications then yes it definitely will affect your GPA admissions-wise.
