Hello everyone! I'm a first year at a LAC in the Midwest and looking to transfer into Macalester, Reed, or University of Chicago as a sophomore.

HS GPA: 3.6 weighted, my HS doesn't send out unweighted. my grades were horrible sophomore year but improved greatly junior/senior year. I had really extreme personal problems (severe depression, an abusive relationship, my parent's brutal divorce) so it wasn't that I was lazy or anything.
ACT: 30
AP's: US Gov: 5, Comp. Gov: 5, Art History: 4, French: 3, Psych: 5

College GPA: My first semester will be a 3.75
Courses:
Advanced French Lit. and Comp (215)
Freshman Seminar (Required for all freshman, mine is a mixture of cultural studies and philosophy)
Princples of Economics (199)
Elementary Russian Language (100)

Next semester I will be taking 5.5 credits while normally the limit is 4.75
Chemistry 100
Calculus 110
French 240
Russian 105
Religious Studies (a half credit) 220
Classics 210

My EC's for college include being heavily involved in several clubs and I will be starting up a chapter of an multinational organization at my school this month. I'm trying to find some volunteering to do, it will most likely involve working at a clinic for those who were sexually abused.

I'm pretty confident in my essays and my letters of rec, plus there are a few unique aspects of my application (I started my own baking/catering business sophomore that is still running strong, I'm crazy obsessed with the slow food movement, and my personal experiences). Am I aiming too high? UChicago is my dream school but I would be perfectly content to transfer to Mac or Reed. Is there anywhere else I should be looking at?

Thank you so much! :D
