I wasn't entirely sure if this belonged in the transfers or chance me forums.

HS GPA: Horrid. 2.4 (missed 80 days of class s'more year, dropped out after failing 3/4 of my courses that year, got my GED when I was 18, am 20 now)
Community college stats: 4.0 GPA, 32 credits. Have been fulfilling prereqs and core courses and am considering being biology major.

College coursework: Mediocre at best... Everything has been college level but the math. I never really learned algebra beyond solving linear equations so I had to start from there. Am going through precalc now, am planning to through calc 1 and take some college-level chemistry (which admittedly isn't all that rigorous). There's a fair chance this will bring me to a 3.9.

No SAT/ACT as of yet.

ECs: Mediocre. 300-400 hours of light volunteer work at the food bank over four years, writing tutor (paid, but it would be a half-decent letter of recommendation), and ocassional volunteer at Phi Theta Kappa.

Want to try for (easy ones first)
Local liberal arts college that is easy to get into
Michigan State
Better liberal arts college (need about a 3.5)
....
UMich (have been following this transfer guide religiously)
Notre Dame
Northwestern
....
Penn (huge reach, I know)

Could I potentially transfer to these universities if I work at it this next year? Say, what if I keep my GPA up, get a good SAT score and improve my ECs in the 6-8 months or so before application time? I'm pretty damned good at writing essays, if it helps (though they'll be run-of-the-mill for really good schools).
