So I have applied EA at Georgetown, but I sent 4 recs, but they only want 3. Normally they want: One from counselor, and two from teachers (which I sent). I also had my resident director of the nsli-y program in Morocco I went on this summer send one via mail. I think’ll it’ll provide new insight on me (she loved me, and actually begged to write one for me). Will this work against me since they only ask for 3? Should I call and ask them to strike her rec from my file?
I sent 5 and got in but Idk if that helped/hurt/whatever. Mine were from a diverse set of people (two teachers, counselor, principal, and employer) though, so just make sure you aren’t overloading on a specific category where the letters are likely to say the same thing if you do want to send more than 3.
I don’t think it will work against you. Sometimes people say the thicker the file, the weaker the applicant but IMO this is not the case for you. Your resident director would offer a different insight than your teachers and your counselor.
