Do admission look at progressive HS gpa or only the cumulative gpa?

Hi! I am a freshman wanting to sophomore transfer. My HS gpa shows big improvement, but it is bad if someone only looks at the cumulative one. These are my gpa:

9th 1st- 4.0
9th 2nd- 2.9 (changed school after a semester...couldn't adjust academically)
10th 1st- 3.0
10th 2nd- 3.2
11th 1nd- 3.5
11th 2nd- 3.6
12th 1nd- 4.0
12th 2nd-4.0 (I worked my ass off when everyone was going to school as a joke)

the cumulative is 3.5 and its just sad...It doesn't show that I am now very ready to try my best and study. Assuming that I will get 3.9+ in college, how would my HS gpa affect my chances? HOPING FOR THE BEST!!!

As with fr admissions, they consider both trends and cumulative gpa.

In general, after 24 credit hours at a college, the transfer admission will ask you about your college’s GPA, not your high school’s GPA.

They only care if you graduated from high school or not.

^OP is asking about being a soph transfer, so they will be applying with just 1 sem of college completed so colleges will also consider their HS record.

I agree with Entomom, colleges want to see HS transcripts as a 2nd year transfer, and many want to see the HS transcript as a junior transfer. Most will also want to see test scores if transferring prior to junior year.

OP, your upward trend in HS is an achievement, not something to have regret over (or that you have to explain). It’s pretty amazing actually :). Your college GPA/record will carry the most weight, but honestly your HS record is fine.

I think right now, your HS grades can only help your transfer application. Progressive trends are very nice to have. If your college GPA remains similar, you shouldn’t worry about your HS GPA.
