I have 40% of all my prereqs done with a 3.9 G.P.A. Would this be substantial enough to apply for more of the prestigious UC’s such as Berkeley and UCLA?
Yes, but try and get most pre-reqs done by fall so they can see the grades. Cramming a bunch in last term can work against you.
It depends. What’s your major?
Neurology. Would it also help my application if I had about 200 volunteer hours in a hospital?
I think you should plan on 80-85% completed by fall or similar. Neuroscience is tricky - they’re going to be looking closely at how you perform in the courses. The more you’ve done, the better. If by end of fall, you’re at 50% or thereabouts, I don’t know, it’s pretty low for that discipline.
Volunteer hours hugely beneficial but it won’t surpass low major course completion IMHO.
@Ohm888 What if you end up leaving on average 2 pre reqs (not required, but recommended) for last two semesters before transferring? Does that look bad towards admission i.e like rejection?
^
*Well, 1 required and 1 recommended for each semester, *
