S drug tested for engineering intern for large global company

I was drug tested (urine) for my internship this summer.

I wasn't drug tested for a congressional internship this past summer.

We are an energy company in Houston--All of our Interns are drug tested before starting

I was drug tested and background checked but I'm at a national lab.

what are the Big 4??

how about mtv?

Have interned with a utility and currently a co-op with an oil company. Have had to do a hair test each time before I start work.

National labs do.

just don’t ask HR “do you drug test?”, because then they will always say yes ;)

@Auburn: i think it’s up to the lab, because lincoln labs doesn’t, but maybe the DoE labs have a separate policy.

drug test 2 years in a row for 2 BBs

Since this has come back up, yes we drug test interns. You may be asked to be around dangerous equipment etc and we dont want the liability or danger to you if you are stoned or coked up

Yup. Son was tested 3 summers in a row, working for two different companies.

To get back to the subject-matter of this forum, I am a student going on co-op at northeastern and applying to all the “Big 4” accounting firms. For those of you less educated, these consist of Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and KPMG. Not one of these firms in the Boston area drug test their interns. For other locations, the drug testing is left is optional to them so you may or may not be tested.

I read earlier in the post someone saying people you audit might drug test. I’ve heard others say the same thing. This is ridiculous and comes from uninformed people. The firm will take full responsibility for anything that happens while their employees are on site unless it’s gross negligence by the client.

I think Big 4 employees start these rumors to mess with interns.

I am interning at PwC in boson this busy season, are you positive they do not drug test?

for the hair drug test, how far back do they look?

It’s best to assume that they will test.
