@desihscraze I bet you live in Cali.

Yes, I do. The valedictorian of my class is one example. She basically does everything- clubs, sports, plays violin (she is amazing too!), etc. Got a 36 on her ACT’s, around a 99 GPA (I think). The thing is, she’s very humble, which is great. I heard she got deferred from Yale, which honestly surprised me.
Also, the salutatorian of my class is my other example. I’ve actually known him since kindergarten, and he was always wayyyy ahead of everyone else. He’s one of those people that doesn’t have to study much and still gets 100s. And he got into Harvard, so there ya go.

@similo I actually live in MD.

Well, my school is 97% African-American. The average SAT score is a 1275 (that’s CR+M+W, by the way). I have a SAT 2010 and people think I’m going to Yale or something (uhh… no). They think I’m crazy and that I overreact. I just wish they could see CCnerds. My first SAT score was a 1930 and people were like “WTH! Gosh you’re a genius!” Relative to the kids at my school, I believed them… until I discovered CC. So I pushed myself for a 2000 (I am not an SAT hustler, so I wasn’t killing myself for a 2300. Just a 2000.) and kids asked why I was even taking it again.

They don’t understand and it’s hard to explain that I don’t want to go to UMBC and to get into a good school of my choice, I have to do better. I try to explain to them that 2100s are not impossible and unheard of. They don’t believe me.

Oh gosh ya…pretty much my whole school is CC material! Not fun…

Where did you this info?

The grass always seems greener on the other side @myraven11. My school is worse than CC and there 2000 is unheard of, I could say!!

My school has an average SAT of around 1500… Since I’m a major slacker, everyone was really surprised I got a 2000 – most of the “smart kids” here have 1800s, though the tippy top students have high scores (2200-2000) ahah. Our valedictorian race is fiercely competitive, but I wouldn’t say either candidate is CC material… One has a 2120 and got deferred at Harvard, and one has a 2140 and will go to UGA on full scholarship.

That being said, I DO know a few CC-like people (well, two of them actually do use CC), though they don’t go to my school. One got into Dartmouth ED, he’s Hispanic, made all 5s and one 4 on his AP tests (he’s taken around 11 APs) and has had research published… He only made a 27 on his ACT, but the rest of his app was literally perfect. He used CC and got banned for test-trading, ahah. Another friend of mine is Hispanic, blind, and has almost perfect grades, lots of dual enrollment classes and APs, and a 33 on the ACT, in addition to being the leader of her Model UN group – she was deffered by Yale, though. Another friend of mine had a 33 ACT, perfect grades (all As with one B in a ton of AP classes), and had interned with a US Senator… She went to Northwestern. Another friend of mine is graduating a year early and has literally thousands of community services hours – and she’s graduating second in her class. She has published research, and she’s also a URM. Her teacher recommendations all say she’s the best student her teachers have ever had. So far she’s only managed a 27 ACT, but that was enough for my other friend… So we’ll see where she ends up.

Yeesh. My school is a fairly selective private school, but we don’t really have people that bad/good. I can’t remember our Oxbridge stats, but most people go to St Andrews, Edinburgh or Glasgow (we’re in Scotland so they’re all free). We had 3 people get into the BMO round 1 this year (out of ~500 eligible to participate), and I missed by only a few marks. Apart from that, most people are pretty average.

There are some people with ridiculous numbers of extracurriculars, but they tend to be into music and drama.

Academically, a lot of people take 6 (instead of the standard 5) Higher exams, and we tend to get very good results.

I think the dux last year got 4 As at Advanced Higher (Scottish exam slightly higher than AP in America), but three of them were maths, mechanics and physics, which have a fair bit of overlap.

I’m considering applying to MIT, so I guess it’ll be interesting to see what I get on the SAT, especially since I’ll have dropped English by that time.

my schools valedictorian has an amazing GPA, but hes not in a ridiculous amount of APs or does any crazy research or volunteering…but them im here with a 3.8 and 2 APs in my junior year

Ironically, in my school there are seemingly no CC’ers. Although I go to an IB school and have seemingly genius kids, this seems relative as they all seem pretty complacent with their lives. The over-achievers at my school usually just take college courses at a local community college in the summer, whereas I spend hours on my summer program apps and stuff, although I definitely think that a couple of them are smarter then me, even with my 35 ACT score. All of them still think that they’re going to harvard though lol

I feel hopeless…

Most of my school is like that. Everyone is so obsessed with college admissions and during the first few weeks of school, AP classes are packed. Usually it dies down throughout the school year

Half my grade is CC-type kids. But truly outstanding kids that could get in anywhere and will most likely be successful no matter what is one kid. He isn’t valedictorian as he doesn’t care about classes like English and more humanities-oriented, but his abilities in math and science are simply mind-blowing. He reads the textbooks for fun, constantly corrects teachers, does not study for tests yet is always the highest grade, instead of doing homework he learns Java and C++ for fun… He has this incrible capacity to remember and connect things in a certain way for problem solving that we’ll be sitting in Math HL looking at a problem that even the teacher can’t do yet he’ll figure out a way.

I attend a pretty competitive school, so there are quite a few CC-like people actually…
I know a girl who graduated who scored 2390 on the SAT as a sophomore, got a gold medal at the International Biology Olympiad (as a sophomore), a silver medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad (as a junior), and a bronze medal at the International Physics Olympiad.

LOL my school sends like a million people to Intel every year… we also had a Davidson Fellows (10k)… in my grade alone, there are 3 2400’s (1st sitting in oct) and like I know 10 people retaking for 2400… it’s insane…

I know one girl. She’s…really annoying. The only thing I hate about people who are like CC is their arrogance (not saying all CCer’s, but there still are some).

yes, my whole effing school unfortunately. It’s almost a 1/4 of the grade that goes to Ivy Leagues, so imagine the high level competition. I have a 2360 and two 800 sat subject tests and im average in terms of smartness in my school (possibly even below average). Honestly, I wonder what it would be like to go to a worse school but be more outstanding in comparison to the students there.

I’m trying to comprehend how a 2360 SAT student could possibly be considered average.

Yes.
Most of my friends are overachievers. They make me feel like a slacker.
