that I am really stupid compared to most the CC people? Like I'm really shocked at how people get such great SAT and ACT scores and get 5's on their AP tests. People at my high school jump for joy when they get a 3 on their AP test. 5's are RARE. My friend can talk about his 29 on the ACT which he says is a very high score(but in CC I guess it's not lo!). I've never met anyone in my high school with more than 300 volunteer hours. Most people I know and say they did 10 and it seemed to be enough. I feel so motivated now, I had to share that lol. Anyone else feel more motivated because they feel dumb compared to other other people on this site?

welcome to cc, mi dear.
this is just part of the initiation.

^^ no don’t!! I will post links to AOM threads so you can feel better about yourself

Don’t feel bad. I’d venture to say that over half of peoples’ statistics are fabricated in even the slightest way.

I kind of hate you right now -_- (yeah, kind of random, but it was in my search for a thread)

Feel more goodly: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/531082-regrets.html

I would have to agree with you. Some of the test scores, and just stats posted on here are mindblowing to me. It seems that most people on here are trying to get into Ivy-League, elite, top of the line schools. Good luck to those who think they can, chances are very slim (even with some of the stats I’ve seen on here).

lol thanks but doesn’t anyone else feel like they now need to write a bestseller novel or get a purple heart to get into a good college? I need to get started on that summer reading assignment now… then go write my own Pulitzer Prize book (LOL i can’t write to save my life)

I feel the same way. they all talk about Harvard and Duke and stuff, and I can only dream of even getting into those places lol.

A Purple Heart? Well, I suppose that would be pretty impressive…

it’s okay, i feel like that too [mostly because i’m a rising sophomore and have yet to take an AP or the SAT and i only took the ACT in 7th grade…]. just gotta roll with the punches.

Before CC I never heard of anyone self studying for an AP exam. I don’t think my school would allow that. The highest SAT anyone gets in my school is like a 2200 and the ‘smart’ kids get 650-750 on their SAT IIs.

I think a majority of the people on CC spend way to much doing school related stuff, like studying.

“President and founder of the Cancer Research Club at my school; We have raised over $300,000. 860 hours of volunteering as a medical doctor in Uganda. Found the cure for AIDS. Won the Nobel Prize for discovering that P=NP.”

“Pretty weak ECs. Other than that, good stats!”

^^Yeah, before CC, I thought self studying was insane and always discouraged it on Yahoo Answers. Now I’ve done it with great results.
But I still consider the amount of time some people here spend studying for the SAT/ACT insane.

I didn’t even know about CC until after I took my SATs for the first time. Needless to say, I was in awe over how seriously people took the test, and chuckled at the amount of people retaking that odious exam for the coveted 2300+.

omg. I can totally relate to this.
I hate going through CC’s other threads started by kids who have 2330 SAT scores, 200 hours of community service, and incredible GPAs. It’s almost not fair, but then again, nobody’s the same, I guess we can only work with what we already have.

*Am I the only who feels that I am really stupid compared to most the CC people? Like I’m really shocked at how people get such great SAT and ACT scores and get 5’s on their AP tests. *

You’re definitely not the only one:P! I remember randomly googling “APUSH” in junior year and finding this website, and was about to cry when I realized that there were real people in this world who had 4+ APs from freshman/sophomore year and 2300+ on their SATs----> how was I ever going to get into college!!! But then, seeing that it was possible to perform well on the SAT was very motivating, and in the end, everything worked out okay. I did get into almost all of my top choice colleges, some with extremely generous financial aid. Don’t let what you see on CC stress you— trust me, things will turn out okay :].

Welcome
to
hell

Just do it.

I know right! I volunteered a hundred hours at the library and I felt like ‘yeah man i’m so on top of my game’ and that is just dirt compared to like everyone here but it’s like whoa in my high school. I also don’t like being executive board member of just about anything because I cannot lead anyone. I guess I’ll have to learn because if the geniuses here are questioning their chances of getting into a good college with their glorious applications mine probably won’t even deserve a rejection letter. In my high school, you had bragging rights if you got even almost-nearly-close to 2000 on the SAT.

So I guess it’s time for us to get crackin’ on community service and SAT studying…I have a lot of work to do… my PSAT was 162(LOL).

This is the time to decide whether you want to play the game or not.

Either way, you need to stop being concerned about your own self-worth or ability.
