“what does it say about him that mommy does CC, not him?”

That he has a life?
Lol, I’ve read my mother some of the stuff people post on here and she thinks everyone’s lying.

I feel like I might be one (3.98/2200/34)(?) but I have good extra curriculars and i excelled as best i could in my school. I still have a life. My mom pushes me but not to extreme points. and half my school is really unintelligent but because its a prep school we have a 99.9% college going rate

however, my friend from last years graduating class got deffered from princeton. he had a 4.0, 2350, volunteering and did research at princeton for 4 years, was a legacy (5 generations), did sports, was nerdy but funny, literally a CC. and he got deffered! later he was accepted to every ivy and what not but still!!

I know one, but she was exceptional in my small town. She was student of the year because no one else in the district had her stats or extracurriculars. However compared to some of the posts I read on CC, she is just normal.

Yes, I know many. I go to a really competitive school though.

Sent from my HTC One S using CC

Nope i dont know anyone

nope i dont know anyone who does that

My question after reading all of these posts is how do these kids that are “CC’ers” do in either college or real life? Does getting into an Ivy League school guarantee success? If everyone is super smart at an Ivy League does that mean cookie cutter kids who are just interested in getting stellar grades and not necessarily learning anything. Just some things I am wondering about because there are so many incredible schools out there that help kids develop into amazing, mature individuals who have much success.

So I’m a junior, used to be number 1 in my class, but now I’m number 2 :(( totally flunked my first quarter because I underestimated junior year…and I’m pretty sure I must be the worst salutatorian in the whole country. My repertoire consists of nothing…
only 3 AP classes
196 on PSAT
member of several clubs, yet never held a leadership position in any of those and don’t plan to
have never taken the SAT…
worse, only started to prepare for the SAT like last week, when I know a lot of my friends started in freshman year or at least over the summer sigh
and to add to all that, I’m Asian
I feel so inferior…My friends keep telling me “you are Harvard and Yale material” hahahaha the idea is so preposterous

My school only offers four AP classes, and I’m pretty sure our salutatorian isn’t in any of them because three of them are reserved for seniors.
And I think it’s absurd to prepare for the SAT for two years…it’s not that difficult a test if you paid attention in math and English and take a couple practice tests.

what is usamo?

[Let me google that for you](<a href=“LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You”>LMGTFY - Let Me Google That For You)

We had some super CCers in the classes of 2009 and 2010. They won intel sts, siemens, 98 percentile in USAMO, etc. 2 went to MIT, 1 went to Harvard, and another to Yale.

@halcyonheather lol that makes me feel a little better about myself, though I still believe that I’m still one of the most mediocre salutatorian in the country.
I’ve heard stories about people practicing every day for the SAT which helped them a lot, and I am myself a believer of practice makes perfect, so I’ll just keep on practicing and studying hoping for a >2100 score

I’m so glad to know that there are people on here who are NORMAL. I see people with all these high stats and superb ECs, and I’m just like … I live in a very rural area with ONE AP class; the people here think a 30+ ACT (they don’t even know what the SAT is) is “out of this world.” Since I have a 30 (sophomore year – hoping to raise in February ACT), they are like “OMG, you are definitely going to Harvard, Duke, ect.” … -_-;
Our school is so small and has very few resources, so it is somewhat disheartening when I see all these CCers brag about their internship(s), awards, ect. when I would kill for a CHEMISTRY class (yes, we seldom get that luxury) or a math course past pre-cal.

Sorry, that’s the end of my rant. Just had to let off steam I guess. ;)

@TheMizu haha agreed. I’m from a very rural area too. Just because I got a 32 on my ACT my guidance counselor told me I should be applying to schools at the Stanford caliber.

And even worse, I informed her that I got into University of Chicago last week and she said “Are you sure you can afford out-of-state tuition?” I told her it was a private school (a dang good one at that) and she tried explaining the differences between public and private schools to me. It kind of sucks when nobody from your town can appreciate a UChicago acceptance letter with you, not even your parents D:

Congratulations! Uchi is excellent! It’s Ivy level for sure imo.

My school was ranked one of the worst in my state, so no, I don’t know any CC-caliber students. We don’t have a lot of resources available either (I live in a small suburban district). Example: I took all of the AP courses my school offers… all two of them. /lulz.

I can totally identify with other people posting in this thread saying how they’re above average in their own schools, but knowing not to take it seriously when other kids say “Wow, you’ll definitely make it into, like, Harvard!!!111one11”

We did have one student who graduated two years ago that went to MIT, and he’s honestly a celebrity in our town. (He’s interning in Cern to work on the Large Hadron Collider this summer! How cool is that?)

I have okay SAT/ACT scores that get all kinds of gasps in my area (our school SAT average last year was 1510), but I’m trash by any other standards, haha. I just hope that I can make it into a good college that I can grow at for a few years.

Absolutely none in my school. Average sat score in my school is 1260/2400. Yes out of 2400 I’m not talking about CR+M.

Nope.
Although the grade below mine had a few people get 210+ PSATs, so they’ll probably have a few semifinalists. One kid even got a 234.
The highest score in my grade was probably ~205.
